Two JSHS (Junior Science and Humanities Symposium) alumni from New England, Paige Brown and Amol Punjabi, emerged as two of the three winners in the $1 million Intel Talent Search, a top science competition for young innovators. Amol, who is from Marlborough, MA, won the basic research category for developing software that can help drug makers create new cancer and heart disease therapies. Paige, who hails from Bangor, ME, received the top honor for the global good and innovation category for her study of water quality in six local streams high in E. Coli and phosphate contamination levels. The winners will each receive $150,000.
