Tell Us about Yourself

I am a Junior in high school with a passion for STEM education reform and engineering.

What AEOP program(s) did you participate in?

eCYBERMISSION

Words of Advice?

AEOP is unique because it provides students with a wide variety of accessible programs, each catering to different types of students. The combination of accessibility and variety makes me confident that any student can gain from an AEOP program.

Best Things about the Program?

Participating in eCYBERMISSION helped me gain vital skills and learn valuable lessons. For me, the ability to take a problem that affects a community and develop a much-needed solution was the best part. Through eCYBERMISSION my team and I connected with members of a community and built valuable relationships. Our team then worked with the community to research, develop, test and refine our solution.

How Participating in AEOP Inspired You to Advance in the STEM Field?

eCYBERMISSION opened up the world of science and technology and cultivated my teamwork and communication skills. As a girl, science and technology fields have always been portrayed as dominated by and catering to men. Programs like eCYBERMISSION make STEM much more approachable. Additionally, I learned how engineering could directly improve the lives of a vulnerable community. In the media, engineering is often portrayed as a field with minimal community interaction, but through eCYBERMISSION, I was able to see how various experts and community members are necessary to develop viable solutions to important issues.

What are Your Future Hopes and Dreams?

I hope to develop technology that changes the way we live our day-to-day lives or to develop solutions to issues that impact entire communities.
