What AEOP program(s) did you participate in?

Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science (GEMS)

Best Things about the Program?

AEOP was the first time I walked into a laboratory setting and was treated like a lab technician in training. Unlike traditional school settings, experimentation and questions were encouraged. Working in this type of environment allowed me to pursue more independent and team-driven discoveries.

What are your future hopes and dreams?

My goal is to continue furthering my education and pursue a career in integrative biology, focusing on the new paradigm of open system studies. I also find kelp-forest ecology really interesting and would like to learn more about the subject.

Who is your favorite STEM role model?

Michio Kaku is my favorite STEM role model. He is a theoretical physicist and an advocate for Earth improvement in the transition from a Type 0 to a Type 1 civilization.

What is your favorite hobby outside of STEM?

The majority of my hobbies are all about STEM. Fermentation and SCUBA diving are some hobbies I am currently enjoying.

If you could meet one person living or dead, who would it be?

If I could choose one person to meet, I would choose Fred Rogers. I would love to know how he places so much value and care into others so consistently.
