Tell Me About Your AEOP Experience.
Last year was the first time I had a team make it to the finals with eCYBERMISSION, and I was elated and excited to learn more about the program by working with the people there. AEOP not only introduced the kids to its many programs—I also learned about its extensive outreach to educators.
What’s Something That Has Surprised You About the AEOP Program?
How large the program is. I’ve also gotten veteran parents from my school to help my students learn about the branches of the military.
What Is the Craziest Thing You Would Like to Pursue in STEM?
My STEM class has actually had three projects launched on NASA-sponsored rockets and high-altitude balloons, so I’ve learned a lot from that. It’s crazy that my students are featured on the NASA website! But the craziest experience for me was being a guest alongside Neil deGrasse Tyson and Michio Kaku, talking with them about STEM education in the U.S. We need more outreach and connection with professionals.
