What AEOP program(s) did you participate in?

Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program (URAP)

Words of Advice?

I am going to enter my 4th year in the BS/MS program with an undergraduate focus in chemical and biomolecular engineering and my master’s degree in biomedical engineering. I have been working in the Montclare Lab for Protein Engineering for about 2 years. I completed the URAP program last summer and this summer I am embarking to Kyoto, Japan under the Amgen Scholar Program. My research thus far has been focused on utilizing proteins for encapsulating small molecules, currently geared towards engineering hydrogel constructs.

Best Things about the Program?

I had an amazing experience with my mentor who showed me the great things we scientists can do to change the world.

How Participating in AEOP Inspired You to Advance in the STEM Field?

I am excited to be on the council as it will give me a direct way to make all the AEOP programs throughout the country a life changing experience for participants, just as it was for me.
