Tell Us about Yourself

I’m a high school senior! In the future I plan to study computer science, conduct research, and build apps/websites to help solve problems in peoples’ lives.

What AEOP program(s) did you participate in?

High School Apprenticeship

Words of Advice?

For future AEOP participants: even if you don’t know anything about a topic, or you don’t know if you’ll like something, try it and put yourself out there anyway because you never know what could happen!

Best Things about the Program?

My program at Shabani Lab was my first exposure to quantum computing, which I knew nothing about before joining. Still, I was able to learn a lot about programming, physics, and the research process in the span of a summer. Although I got a lot from AEOP, the best thing about it was that it helped me begin to think like a scientist — to identify problems and learn more about them, and then to find ways to solve them.

How Participating in AEOP Inspired You to Advance in the STEM Field?

AEOP was my first experience with research and I learned a lot about potential careers and opportunities that I never would have heard about otherwise.

Who is your favorite STEM role model? Why?

Hedy Lamarr. She didn’t get enough credit for her work in her life, but I admire how she never lost her drive to invent against the odds.

What are your future hopes and dreams?

I hope to use my skills to build things that help people, and to make the future even a little bit more of a happier place to live.
