Tell Us about Yourself

I am currently a college sophomore studying Biochemistry with an emphasis in Biology. I participate in undergraduate research during the school year and also every summer at Washington University St. Louis. I participated in the AEOP High School Apprenticeship in the summer of 2019 at Washington University in St. Louis.

What AEOP program(s) did you participate in?

AEOP High School Apprenticeship

Words of Advice?

I would advise future participants to enjoy the time while it lasts and to open up your mind to many of the possibilities of the STEM field.

Best Things about the Program?

During my AEOP experience, I enjoyed meeting and working with my lab members, learning the ins and outs of the lab, and getting to participate first-hand in microbial research.

How Participating in AEOP Inspired You to Advance in the STEM Field?

AEOP allowed me to specify the field of biology that I wanted to study. After my apprenticeship, I knew I wanted to work in a lab-setting studying microbial interactions.

Who is your favorite STEM role model?

Arpita Bose, my AEOP program lead and mentor at Washington University, is my favorite STEM role model. Without her, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

What are your future hopes and dreams?

My ultimate dream is to achieve my PhD in Microbiology. I hope to, one day, help answer the many questions we, as humans, have about the world.
