About Internship After School Program Applicants Training Calendar Schedule
 

Be a science mentor for a high-school student!

We are offering two types of teaching opportunities for first-, second- and third-year college students. You will receive a $250 stipend for attending all 25 training sessions. By attending the training, you commit to teach to one of the two science education programs. You will receive a separate stipend for teaching at the after school program (ASP_NW) or for the GEMS summer program. Extra bonus will be paid for students who are interested in teaching for both programs. Hourly rates depend on level of experience and will be discussed individually with each student.  

1. After School Program in N.W./Washington D.C.
This opportunity involves teaching science and technology to junior high (Lincoln Junior High) and high school (Bell Multicultural) students in an after school program. Both schools are part of the Columbia Heights Educational Campus, located in N.W. Washington D.C. You will be paid for the training as well. For details on this program, please click here. 2. GEMS Program - Summer of 2009
If you are a returning near-peer, you need to submit your registration in this program right now. Training for this program starts February 5, 2009. Pre-program activities start in March. We are working on new modules, as well as improving some of the old modules. Stipends vary from $125/week (beginner GEMS), $150/week (intermediate GEMS) or $150-$187/week (advanced GEMS). We are looking for first-, second- and third-year college students, enrolled in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering and /or Information Technology majors, who are available twice a week, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, from April through mid-June of 2009, who would like to teach science to high school students.
