U.S. Army Awards Program

  About AAP Students Directors Volunteers

The Department of the Army will offer awards for scientific/engineering excellence to student exhibitors in grades 9-12 at 2011-2012 regional and state fairs affiliated with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF). At the regional fairs, student winners will receive a Certificate of Achievement, and a tangible reward (i.e., day pack, polo shirt or calculator). At the state fairs, student winners will receive a Certificate of Achievement. The best regional fair winner will also receive a bronze medallion, and the best state fair winner will also receive a silver medallion.

Fair directors of Intel ISEF affiliated fairs may request Army awards and the participation of Army personnel to serve as judges and select student projects by completing the online registration process.  Please follow the link at the bottom of the page.

Registration must be received no later than 45 days prior to the date of the fair.

The selection and presentation of Army awards will be made in the following five categories:

Engineering

Environmental Sciences (may include projects in Earth and Planetary Sciences or Environmental Sciences)

Mathematics/Computer Science

Life Sciences (may include projects in Behavioral and Social Sciences, Medicine and Health, Microbiology, Animal Sciences, or Plant Sciences)

Physical Sciences (may include projects in Biochemistry, Chemistry or Physics).

Every effort will be made to identify a local Army representative to coordinate the effort of the Army judging team and assure the presentation of awards. In those areas where an Army representative is unable to participate, selection of winners and presentation of awards may be accomplished through your judges.  If there is an Army ROTC or recruiting presence in the local area, fair directors are encouraged to provide that information during registration.  This should increase the likelihood of coordinating Army presence at each fair.

Army commanders are encouraged to provide further enhancement of the Army Awards Program by providing tours of research or base facilities. It is recommended that the fair director discuss the possibility of tours with the local Army representative.

Questions/concerns should be directed to Pamela Hampton by email at
phampton@aas-world.org or by phone at (603) 228-4530.
