Locations Goals Program About GEMS

Important information for all students applying to the GEMS program this summer!

The deadline is March 31, 2010 for Redstone Arsenal - GEMS program.

AMRDEC requires an essay for BOTH GEMS 1 and GEMS 2. This needs to be included with all GEMS applications for Redstone Arsenal. Applications without an essay will not be accepted for GEMS at Redstone Arsenal. (The length of the essay is up to individual applicants.)

GEMS sites have variable assignment dates, but the internship awards will likely be assigned yearly in April. Do not be concerned if you have not received your assignment prior to April 15.

1.
The application includes an area for up to a 500 word essay, which should be about why the student wants to be in the GEMS program. Please approach this with thought and reflection before you begin your application so you have an idea as to what you would like to write.

2.
The GEMS application also includes sections that ask the applicant to describe career and academic interests.

3.
There are several GEMS sessions this summer across the country. The application will ask that you select a first and second preference for location. You will be assigned your first choice ONLY if there is adequate space in that session.

4.
Getting your application in as early as possible helps ensure that you get your first choice. To see a list of weeks offered by each GEMS location for the Summer 2010 program, click here.
