The GEMS program at ARL in Adelphi gives middle school
students rising to the 7th, 8th and 9th , grades the opportunity
to explore new pursuits in Science & Math and expand upon
their current interests with unique hands-on laboratory
experiences.
2008 Summer Session Topics: biosensors,
flexible displays, fuel cells, power generation and photovoltaics
Summer Session Description: This
year GEMS participants will be involved in activities
based on the latest cutting-edge research on biosensors,
flexible displays, and fuel cell technology as well as
sessions on photovoltaics and building small generators.
Activities and experiments will range from building fuel
cell cars to designing a glucose biosensor.
Planned session dates: Four 1-week sessions
will be held during Summer 2008: Week #1: July 7-11, 2008,
Week #2: July 21-25, 2008, Week #3: July 28 -Aug 1, 2008,
Week #4: Aug 4 - Aug 8, 2008
